Antigone in Munich reframes the classic story of Antigone through the real life of Sophie Scholl in 1940’s Germany. Sophie led a group of courageous college students known as The White Rose Society in publishing pamphlets speaking out against Nazi rule. The play follows Sophie and her friends as they grapple with fear, conscience, and the moral cost of silence. The play portrays their bravery as a modern echo of Antigone’s timeless struggle to do what is right in the face of oppressive power.
