SCROLL DOWN FOR LYRICS

“I’m a Believer” — The Monkees (1966)

Written by Neil Diamond and recorded by The Monkees in the summer of 1966, “I’m a Believer” became one of the defining pop singles of the decade. It spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the best-selling single of 1967 in the United States.

“Closing Time” — Semisonic (1998)

Written by Dan Wilson and released in 1998 on the album Feeling Strangeness, “Closing Time” is the Minneapolis trio’s signature song, earning a spot among the most recognizable rock singles of the late 1990s.

“Turn” — October Project (from The Book of Rounds: 21 Songs of Grace, 2015)

“Turn” comes from The Book of Rounds. The music is by composer Emil Adler and the lyrics by Julie Flanders. A round is among the oldest and simplest forms of communal singing: one melody, entered by successive voices, so that the tune harmonizes with itself. Once the voices begin to overlap, the simple tune becomes a layered, shimmering texture. Its lyrics are an invitation to belong to a world, to a community, and to oneself.

“Antiphonal Cantate” -  Greg Gilpin (2016)

Antiphonal Cantate is a celebratory fanfare for choir, built on the old tradition of antiphony, in which musical phrases pass back and forth between separate groups of singers. The text is both Latin and English. Midway through, the energy shifts into a contrasting section in 3/2. The broader, lilting pulse offers a moment of playful relief before the opening’s festive spirit returns.

“Some One” - text by Walter de la Mare, music by Leeann Starkley (2025)

“Some One” is a short poem by the English poet Walter de la Mare (1873-1956). A listener is startled by a knock at a small door in the night. They open it, look in every direction, and find nothing there except the ordinary sounds of the dark. Like much of de la Mare’s work, the poem treats childhood imagination with real seriousness.

“Let Beauty Awake” - Andy Beck

“Let Beauty Awake” takes inspiration from Robert Louis Stevenson’s Songs of Travel and Other Verse (1896). A light hearted Jazz Waltz, Andy Beck’s arrangement dances in two parts, weaving elody and harmony together to paint a picture of nature’s first visions of sunrise and joy.

Lyrics:

I’m a believer

I thought love was only true in fairy tales

Meant for someone else, but not for me

Love was out to get me

That's the way it seemed

Disappointment haunted all my dreams

Then I saw her face, now I'm a believer

Without a trace, of doubt in my mind

I'm in love, I'm a believer, I couldn't leave her if I tried

I thought love was more or less a givin' thing

Seems the more I gave, the less I got

What's the use in tryin'?

All you get is pain

When I needed sunshine, I got rain

Then I saw her face, now I'm a believer

Without a trace, of doubt in my mind

I'm in love, I'm a believer, I couldn't leave her if I tried

Closing Time:

Closing time, open all the doors

And let you out into the world

Closing time, turn all of the lights on

Over every boy and every girl

Closing time, one last call for alcohol

So, finish your whiskey or beer

Closing time, you don't have to go home

But you can't stay here

I know who I want to take me home

I know who I want to take me home

I know who I want to take me home

Take me home

Closing time, time for you to go out

To the places you will be from

Closing time, this room won't be open

Till your brothers or your sisters come

So, gather up your jackets, move it to the exits

I hope you have found a friend

Closing time, every new beginning

Comes from some other beginning's end, yeah

I know who I want to take me home

I know who I want to take me home

I know who I want to take me home

Take me home

Closing time, every new beginning

Comes from some other beginning's end

Turn:

If you need a world to belong to, look around, you’re already home.

And what you need, you’ve already found.

Turn around to me, you will see no reason to be lonely.

Antiphonal Cantate:

Cantate, cantate, cantate domino

Cantate, cantate, cantate domino

Cantate, cantate, cantate domino

Cantate, cantate, cantate domino

Canticum, novum, canticum, novum

Contate domino

Omnis terra, omnis terra

Cantate, cantate, cantate domino

Cantate, cantate, cantate domino

Cantate, cantate, cantate domino

Sing out a joyful new song,

Sing out a joyful new song

Sing out a joyful new song, sing sing.

Sing out a joyful new song,

Sing out a joyful new song

Sing out a joyful new song, sing, sing, sing sing.

Cantate, cantate, cantate domino

Cantate, cantate, cantate domino

Some One:

Someone came knocking

At my wee, small door;

Someone came knocking;

I'm sure-sure-sure;

I listened, I opened,

I looked to left and right,

But nought there was a stirring

In the still dark night;

Only the busy beetle

Tap-tap-tapping on the wall,

Only from the forest

The screech-owl's call,

Only the cricket whistling

While the dewdrops fall,

So I know not who came knocking,

At all, at all, at all.

Let Beauty Awake:

Let beauty awake in the morning,

Let sunrise ignite the skies.

Showing crimson and red, on the clouds overhead,

Let beauty awake in my eyes.

Let beauty awake in the morning,

To welcome the rising dawn.

From the birds in the trees to the fish in the seas,

Let beauty awake and shine on.

Let beauty awake, for all the world to see.

There’s beauty all around, there’s beauty for you, and beauty for me.

Let beauty awake in the morning,

When dew drops reflect the light.

From the mountain top snow, to the valley below

Let beauty awake and take flight.

Let beauty awake in the morning,

Let beauty embrace the day.

From the white desert sand to the green forest land,

Let beauty awaken to stay.

Let beauty awake, for all the world to see.

There’s beauty all around,

There’s beauty for you, and beauty for me.

Let beauty find peace in the evening.

Let beauty take rest and then,

As the stars fade away to the break of the day,

Let beauty awake, awake to stay.
