Diablo Glass School opened in 2001, creating a public access glass arts studio in Boston, Massachusetts. The Institute of Contemporary Art strives to share the pleasures of reflection, inspiration, provocation, and imagination that contemporary art offers through public access to art, artists, and the creative process. The primary activities of the ICA are threefold:

• To present outstanding contemporary art in all media, including visual art exhibitions, music, film, video and performance, that is deserving of public attention and has not been presented in depth to Boston audiences
• To provide innovative experiential learning opportunities for people of all ages through direct encounters with artists and art making

Following a lifelong dream, art teacher Julie Hawkins opened the doors of this magical place 16 years ago. The studio offers classes and workshops in a variety of mediums. Julie’s goal has always been to provide a place for children and adults to express themselves while building self-esteem in the process. She believes that one has to feel safe, welcomed, and accepted for their unique visions. Each session begins with a warm welcome and introduction of each artist or art project. From there, the work unfolds both independently and collaboratively. Artists enjoy fun & camaraderie while learning new artistic techniques. Each participant is encouraged to use these new skills to enhance their own interpretations of the project.

STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS:Felide “Babe” Cusick Memorial Award

$1,000 scholarship available for graduating high school seniors from the towns of Marshfield, Scituate, Norwell, Duxbury and Pembroke. The applicant must have been accepted to an institution of higher learning, majoring in fine arts or peforming arts  – music excluded.

We are pleased to announce that Scituate Federal Savings Bank has pledged to support financial assistance for students grades 1 – 12 to apply toward registration for NRAS classes. Interested students (or their parents) need only to complete a short application to apply. Each student is only eligible for one scholarship per NRAS semester, which typically run seasonally.

South Shore Art Center is a non-profit organization based in the coastal area south of Boston. Our facility in Cohasset features appealing galleries and teaching studios.
